Description
A green herbal liqueur from Izarra in the French Basque Country, whose name means star in Basque, made from a selection of sixteen herbs and spices that are macerated and distilled before Armagnac is added for depth. The Armagnac is its distinguishing element, giving the green expression a warmth and structure under the herbs. Its green colour comes from the botanicals, and at 40% it stands at full herbal liqueur strength.
The nose is fresh herbal with hints of mint, fennel and light spice, the palate full bodied and spicy with clear herbal nuances, aniseed and mint, a slight sweetness and a fine bitter note, finishing long and fresh with a gentle Armagnac hint. In a drink it brings fresh herbal lift, aniseed and a light bitter backbone, so it works neat or over ice as a digestif, as a base for long drinks with tonic or soda, or as a green herbal accent in a stirred cocktail. Its fresh, spicy character gives a back bar a distinctive herbal pour. Serve slightly chilled or over ice.
