Description
Bodegas Izadi was founded in 1987 by a group of friends in Vitoria and works from Villabuena de Álava in the Rioja Alavesa, with vineyards spread across micro-plots between Villanueva, Samaniego and Ábalos. Larrosa is a single-variety Garnacha rosado drawn from old vines averaging around fifty years. The high Rioja Alavesa sites combine limestone-clay soils with altitude and a continental climate, where cool nights and old, low-yielding vines give concentrated yet fresh fruit, holding the acidity that underpins the pale, delicate style. Direct pressing and brief skin contact draw only a light colour, and cool fermentation locks in the primary fruit and floral aromatics rather than building texture or oak. The colour is pale pink. The nose shows ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry with floral notes and a subtle citrus lift. The palate is dry and crisp, the red fruit and white peach carried on bright acidity to a clean, fresh finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass.
