Description
Two-One-Two is a 13 year old Isle of Jura from 2006, the first in a limited edition series, bottled at a cask strength 47.5%. The name nods to the roughly 212 people who live on the island. An outturn of 6,000 bottles. On an island of some 200 people and 6,000 deer, Jura's single distillery was rebuilt in 1963.
Rebuilt in 1963 for a light, clean spirit, the distillery rewards a decade-plus in oak. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks across 13 years, the wood deepens the honeyed malt while cask strength holds its weight.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 47.5%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla with maltol for a malty sweetness. The recorded notes run to fresh oak, chocolate, citrus, a cooked malt note, honey and tobacco. A characterful limited edition named for the islanders.
