Description
The Tastival 2017 was Isle of Jura's festival release that year, matured in American oak and finished in Port, bottled at a cask strength 51%. A large outturn of 12,000 bottles. Jura's single distillery, rebuilt in 1963, was designed to make a softer malt than its Islay neighbours.
The distillery's light, clean spirit takes a Port finish well. Matured in American oak and finished in Port casks, the wine wood adds plum and a jammy sweetness to the malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 51%. The American oak gives vanilla while the Port adds plum and cherry with a jammy edge. The recorded notes run to a sherried character, vanilla, citrus, honey, fresh oak and dried fruit. A Port-finished festival edition Jura.
