Description
The Rare Vintage 30 year old was distilled in 1989 and matured in ex-Bourbon oak, bottled at a cask strength 53.5%. An outturn of 1,500 bottles, it belongs to the distillery's prestige range of old vintages. On an island of some 200 people and 6,000 deer, Jura's single distillery was rebuilt in 1963.
Rebuilt in 1963 for a light, clean spirit, the distillery rewards three decades in oak. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks across 30 years, the wood deepens the honeyed malt while cask strength holds its weight.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.5%. American oak from the ex-Bourbon barrel gives vanilla and coconut, with maltol lending toffee. Three decades have layered waxy, honeyed fruit over polished oak. A deep old vintage at full strength.
