This 45 year old 1973 Isle of Jura was issued as a Limited Vintage Release, a sibling presentation of the distillery's rarest old stock from a single ex-Bourbon cask. An outturn of 83 bottles, it is among the oldest Jura ever bottled.
Jura was rebuilt in 1963, so a 1973 cask comes from the first decade of the revived distillery. Its light, clean spirit is what allows such long maturation. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask across 45 years.
Bottled at 42%. The ex-Bourbon cask supplies vanilla through vanillin, coconut through oak lactones, and a toffee note from maltol. Long decades have built a waxy, honeyed richness over polished oak. A rare vintage release from the early years of the island distillery.
