Description
This 36 year old comes from ex-Bourbon single cask 590, the same cask later bottlings drew on younger, here taken to its full age. An outturn of 449 bottles, it is among the oldest single casks Jura has released. The distillery is the lone producer on its remote Hebridean island.
Rebuilt in 1963 for a light, clean spirit, Jura's malt can endure 36 years in oak. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask across that long span.
Bottled at 44%. The ex-Bourbon wood gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee. The recorded note is a cooked, savoury depth over waxy aged fruit and polished oak. A rare old single cask Jura.
