Description
Berry Bros & Rudd, the London wine and spirits merchant founded in 1698, bottled this 35 year old 1976 Isle of Jura from ex-Bourbon single cask BBR 889. A rare old vintage from the distillery's early decades. Jura makes its malt at the island's sole distillery, rebuilt in 1963 to a deliberately light, Highland style.
The distillery's light, clean spirit can endure three and a half decades in oak. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, the wood deepens the honeyed malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.1%. The ex-Bourbon wood gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee. Long years have layered waxy, honeyed fruit over polished oak. A rare old vintage from a historic merchant.
