Description
The 28 year old is among Isle of Jura's older core releases, matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks and bottled at a cask strength 47%. Jura is the single distillery on its remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 to revive a fading community.
The distillery's light, clean spirit takes sherry well over a long maturation. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks across twenty-eight years, the woods build a deep, sherried character on the honeyed malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 47%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin with a walnut dryness. Deep, honeyed and sherried, with the weight of nearly three decades. A scarce older island malt.
