This 16 year old is a travel retail edition of Isle of Jura, the island malt bottled for the duty-free shelf at a fuller 43%. Jura is the only distillery on its remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 after six decades of silence.
Built for a light, Highland-style spirit, the distillery's tall stills give a clean make. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood deepens the malt over sixteen years.
Bottled at 43%. American oak from the ex-Bourbon barrel gives vanilla and coconut, with maltol lending toffee. Honeyed and rounded with a gentle maritime note, the higher strength adding body. A travel retail island sixteen.
