Battlehill Scotch Whisky Co bottled this 13 year old 2005 Isle of Jura, matured in ex-Bourbon oak at 46%. A clean independent expression of the island malt. There is a single distillery on Jura, rebuilt in 1963 across the water from the peat of Islay.
The distillery's light, clean spirit shows well at a modest age. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak across 13 years, the wood rounds the honeyed malt.
Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon cask lends vanilla through vanillin and coconut through oak lactones. The recorded notes run to dried fruit, fresh fruit, a leafy note, a nutty edge and vanilla. A clean, fruity independent Jura.
