Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky Fireside ElD Elements of Islay (Elixir) is a blended malt Scotch from Elixir Distillers. It vats single malts from several distilleries, with Caol Ila for Islay smoke. The original Victorian distillery was almost entirely rebuilt in the modern era.

The Caol Ila within lends a clean, lemony Islay smoke rather than a heavy tarry one. Maturation in an Oloroso cask laid dried fruit over the make. Years in oak round the smoke, the peat mellowing while the brine stays. The make balances phenolic smoke against a bright, oily citrus. Much of the spirit leaves the island by sea to mature on the mainland. Sea air works into the maturing casks, lending a briny, coastal lift. The spirit's high notes of lemon and grass survive even long maturation. Phenols from the peat smoke carry the medicinal, lemony edge through the years.

Bottled at a cask strength 54.5%, it is intense. A coastal peat smoke runs through it, with lemon, brine and a soft oil over a sweet fruit. Lemon, olive oil and a soft ash run through the middle. A long maritime smoke closes it. A characterful smoky blended malt Scotch.
