Description
Isautier is one of Reunion's oldest rum houses, and this Rhum Blanc Traditionnel is its workhorse white, distilled on a column still from molasses rather than cane juice, so it sits in the island traditionnel camp rather than true agricole despite the green, vegetal style.
The nose is fresh and markedly vegetal, the palate green and grassy with a faint sweetness, and a floral note arrives on the finish. At 40% it is light and direct, a white rum whose herbaceous character can take over in a glass, so it earns its keep in cocktails and island-style serves rather than as a contemplative neat pour.
