Isautier L’Ambré Rhum Création

Isautier is a long-running Réunion distillery, and this L'Ambré Rhum Création is a lightly aged amber. Despite the agricole heritage of the island, this expression is made from molasses rather than fresh cane juice, and it is bottled gently at 41%.

The profile is on the rougher side. The nose carries a medicinal, alcoholic edge with a note of pineapple, while the palate brings more of that medicinal character alongside tropical fruit and a little vanilla sweetness. It reads as a young, workmanlike amber rather than a polished sipper, and the spirit shows through more than the oak. An everyday Réunion molasses rum that finds its best use stretched in a long mixed drink, where the fruit comes forward and the rawer edges soften.
