Description
Distilled in 1991, the very year Inverleven's pot stills fell silent, this Gordon & MacPhail Licensed Bottling is from the distillery's final spirit. Released for Germany at 21 years old at standard strength, it carries a closing-chapter significance.
Inverleven was Hiram Walker's malt distillery within the Dumbarton grain complex, built in 1938 for Ballantine's. 1991 was the end, the stills later moving on, the Lomond still eventually turning to gin for Bruichladdich. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak, the cask gives a grassy Lowland spirit clean structure.
Bottled at 40%. Vanillin and oak lactones in the cask give vanilla and coconut. At 21 years the malt is light and rounded, citrus and soft oak. A quiet bottle from the year the distillery stopped.
