Description
From 1991, Inverleven's last year of distilling, this Gordon & MacPhail Licensed Bottling was released at 17 years old for Europe at standard strength. It is among the final spirit the distillery produced before the stills stopped for good.
Inverleven was built in 1938 inside the Dumbarton grain complex to supply Ballantine's, on the Lowland-Highland boundary by the River Leven. The closing-year spirit is a finite record of a vanished distillery. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak, the cask gives a light Lowland malt gentle structure.
Bottled at 40%. The cask lends vanilla through vanillin and coconut through oak lactones. The recorded notes run to citrus, malt sweetness and seasoned oak, a clean and gently aged Lowland malt. A modest but meaningful bottle from the end.
