Description
Distilled in 1990, just a year before Inverleven fell silent, this Gordon & MacPhail Licensed Bottling captures the malt from the distillery's final stretch. Bottled at 15 years old for Europe at standard strength, it is among the last spirit Inverleven ever made.
Inverleven was built in 1938 inside Hiram Walker's Dumbarton grain complex to supply Ballantine's. By 1990 the writing was on the wall, the pot stills stopping the following year. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood frames a grassy Lowland spirit without weighing it down.
Bottled at 40%. Vanilla and coconut rise from the cask's vanillin and oak lactones over a soft cereal base. At 15 years the malt stays bright and gentle, citrus and light oak. A modest dram carrying the weight of being from the end of the line.
