Intramurs de Poblet Blanc 2024

Intramurs de Poblet Blanc comes from D.O. Conca de Barberà in inland Catalonia, made by Abadía de Poblet, a winery within the Codorníu group set up to revive the Cistercian monks' long winemaking tradition in the area around the Poblet monastery. This white is led by Chardonnay, filled out with Macabeo and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are planted on deep, stony, slate soils, which drain well and force the vines to work for water, concentrating the fruit, while the inland altitude and cool nights of Conca de Barberà preserve acidity and give the wine its fresh line. It is made young in a fresh, primary style, fermented cool to keep the fruit bright and bottled early with no heavy oak, so the site and grape show clearly. The colour is pale straw with green highlights. The nose shows green apple, white peach and lemon, with pear, white flowers and a light almond note. The palate is dry, crisp and medium-bodied, with a clean, mineral finish. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees.
