Description
Intipalka is made by the Queirolo family, who emigrated from Italy in 1877, in the Ica Valley at the foot of the Andes in Peru. Ica is a desert oasis, one of the driest places on earth, where irrigation from Andean meltwater sustains the vines under intense sun and clear, cold nights. That wide day-to-night temperature swing preserves aromatics and acidity in the grapes despite the heat. The farming is sustainable. This Sauvignon Blanc was fermented and aged in stainless steel for three months, a method that keeps the wine fresh and protects its aromatic character. The colour is pale straw yellow. The nose is bright, with grapefruit, passion fruit and lime lifted by fresh-cut grass and a green, herbal note. The palate is crisp and dry, with citrus and tropical fruit carried by sharp acidity and a clean, mineral finish. This is a fresh, direct white made for early drinking from an unusual desert terroir. Serve it at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass.
