Description
Intipalka is the range the Queirolo family, Italian emigrants who have made wine in Peru since 1877, dedicate to world-class Peruvian wine, its name honouring Inti, the Inca sun god. This Malbec comes from the Valle de Ica, a warm desert region on Peru's Pacific coast where intense sunshine ripens the fruit fully and the cool influence off the ocean tempers the heat, preserving freshness. The sandy, free-draining valley soils suit the variety well. The wine is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, an inert vessel that adds no oak and keeps the emphasis on clean, vivid fruit, giving a fresh and approachable style meant to be drunk young. The colour is deep violet-purple, the nose showing ripe plum, black cherry, red berries and a peppery lift. The palate is medium to full-bodied and juicy, with ripe fruit, soft supple tannins and a fresh, lightly spiced finish. Serve at 16 degrees with grilled meats, roast pork or hearty tomato-based dishes.
