Description
Built in 1871 near the fishing port of Buckie, Inchgower makes a briny, nutty malt that has long been a backbone of Bell's. PerfectDram bottled this, distilled in 2017, and released it at 7 years old in its La bomba de jerez range. The outturn was 171 bottles, released for the Netherlands.
The distillery's spirit is built for body rather than elegance, nutty and waxy with a coastal salt note unusual for Speyside. This bottling matured in an Oloroso sherry cask.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.9%, without dilution, the Oloroso butt drives fig and date, the spirit's saline edge cutting through the sherry sweetness. At under ten years the cask has had only a short time to work, so Inchgower's own salty, waxy spirit still leads.
