Description
On the Cromarty side of the Moray Firth, Inchgower distils a coastal, savoury malt that has fed Bell's and other Diageo blends for decades. Mossburn - Distillers & Blenders selected this single cask, distilled in 2007, and released it at 14 years old in its Vintage Casks range. Single cask 25.0607.SC2 gave 291 bottles, released for Europe.
A quick mashing regime and a warmer second water give Inchgower the savoury, saline character that earns it the Manzanilla of Speyside nickname. This bottling matured in a Sauternes wine cask.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 56.2%, without dilution, the Sauternes wood layers honeyed apricot and candied citrus over the spirit. At 14 years the wood and the salty, nutty spirit are roughly in balance.
