Description
Built in 1871 near the fishing port of Buckie, Inchgower makes a briny, nutty malt that has long been a backbone of Bell's. Berry Bros & Rudd, the London wine and spirits merchant, selected this single cask, distilled in 2000, and released it at 13 years old in its Berrys' range. It came from single cask 809756, released for France.
The distillery's spirit is built for body rather than elegance, nutty and waxy with a coastal salt note unusual for Speyside. This bottling matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.
Bottled at 46%, American oak from the ex-Bourbon cask supplies vanilla and coconut, with eugenol adding a touch of clove. At 13 years the wood and the salty, nutty spirit are roughly in balance.
