Description
Built in 1871 near the fishing port of Buckie, Inchgower makes a briny, nutty malt that has long been a backbone of Bell's. James Eadie, a revived blending name, selected this single cask, distilled in 2008, and released it at 11 years old in its Single Cask range. Single cask 808855 gave 236 bottles, released for Germany.
A quick mashing regime and a warmer second water give Inchgower the savoury, saline character that earns it the Manzanilla of Speyside nickname. This bottling matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.8%, without dilution, American oak from the ex-Bourbon cask supplies vanilla and coconut, with eugenol adding a touch of clove. At 11 years the wood and the salty, nutty spirit are roughly in balance.
