InchDairnie KinGlassie Ryelaw Vintage 8 Years Old 2017

KinGlassie is InchDairnie's official peated single malt, made with Fife barley at the Glenrothes distillery that began running in 2015. This release was distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2025 at 8 years old, in the KinGlassie Ryelaw Vintage series. It was released for Europe.

InchDairnie was built in 2015 by Ian Palmer to chase flavour through unusual equipment, milling its cereals on a hammer mill and mashing on a Meura filter rather than a traditional tun. This is the distillery's peated spirit, so smoke sits over the young Fife malt. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks.

Bottled at 46.3%, with natural colour and without chill filtration, the ex-Bourbon wood gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for a light toffee sweetness. Smoke comes through from guaiacol and its related phenols, edged with a light iodine note. Recorded bottle notes run to a coal gas note, a vegetal note and a yeasty note. The spirit is young, yet the peat carries it to a long, smoky finish.
