Ichiro’s Double Distilleries

Ichiro's Double Distilleries is a blended malt from Venture Whisky's Ichiro Akuto, combining spirit from two distilleries with a direct family connection: Chichibu in Saitama, opened in 2008, and Hanyu, the distillery the Akuto family operated before it closed in 2000. The release carries no age statement and has been bottled at 46% for the global market.

Both distilleries' spirit rested in Ex-Bourbon casks, which impart the vanilla, coconut and orchard fruit notes that characterise American oak-matured Japanese whisky. Chichibu's naturally fruit-forward new make meets Hanyu's richer, rounder character in a vatting that serves as a tribute to both sites and to Akuto's distilling lineage.
