I TANT Garnacha Blanca 2024

I TANT Garnacha Blanca is a young single variety white from the D.O. Terra Alta, a project that works with native Catalan varieties to show the local landscape. Terra Alta is the Spanish heartland of Garnacha Blanca, and this comes from twenty five year old vines planted on soils rich in limestone and low in organic matter. That chalky ground drains freely and lends the wine a stony, saline cut, while the inland Mediterranean climate, with strong sunshine and little rain, ripens the grapes fully but keeps yields modest. The wine is made without oak to keep the fruit clean and the focus on the site. It pours a bright straw yellow. The nose is fresh and dry, with pear, green apple and lemon over fennel and white flowers. The palate is round yet crisp, with the weight typical of Garnacha Blanca balanced by a saline, herbal freshness and a clean, almond tinged finish. Serve it chilled at 9 to 11 degrees.
