A 16 year old single cask Diamond from Heytesbury, matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at an easy 46%, rounded and warming with dried and tropical fruit, vanilla and caramel over a finish of roasted wood and liquorice.
Description
Heytesbury Diamond 2002 is a single cask Demerara from the Diamond distillery, bottled by Heytesbury from a 2002 vintage. The Diamond name covers the metal Savalle column and the wider DDL stock, and at sixteen years this cask shows a rounded, fruit-and-oak character that sits comfortably in the middle of the Guyanese spectrum.
Matured in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at 46%, the rum is warming and approachable. The nose offers dried fruit and tropical fruit alongside wood and vanilla, while the palate brings caramel, more dried fruit, wood and a spicy lift. The finish carries dried fruit, roasted wood and a liquorice note that nods to the heavier marques. At a friendly strength and as a single cask, this is an unfussy, well-balanced Demerara that leans on fruit and gentle oak rather than raw power, easy to enjoy without water.
