Description
Herencia de Plata Reposado is a 100 percent agave tequila and the upper line of Tequilas del Señor, a Jalisco house run into its fourth generation and repeatedly recognised at home for its export trade. The range carries enough standing that the bottle was served at a 2002 London dinner during a Mexican state visit, and the elegant packaging makes it a ready gift.
What marks it out is the maturation. After distillation the spirit rests eight months in sherry casks from Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain, barrels first seasoned with sherry for one to three years before shipping to Mexico. The wood lends the tequila a golden to amber hue and pulls the dried fruit, nut and oak character of the wine into the spirit. The nose is intense, almost sweet vanilla with cooked and green agave and a light touch of oak and cinnamon, while the palate is round and slightly oily with vanilla, coconut, caramel and ripe fruit.
