Heisse Witwe Original Likör

A winter liqueur from Heisse Witwe, produced in Lustenau, Austria, by Fancy Company, a subsidiary of the Wilhelm Hammerle Freihof distillery, built in the mulled wine tradition. Plum leads the flavour, joined by a winter spice blend of cinnamon, clove and orange, which positions it as a seasonal warming pour rather than a year round mixer. At 22.5% it is stronger than a typical mulled wine, so it brings spice and fruit with a spirit backbone behind it.

The nose is fruity plum with spicy cinnamon, clove, orange peel and fine herbal notes, the palate sweet, fruity and spicy with pronounced mulled wine character, gentle herbal spice and subtle vanilla, finishing long, warming and slightly tart with a fine sweetness. It unfolds best when heated but not boiled, so the spice notes stay intact. In service it works as a ready made warm winter measure for apres ski, Christmas parties and cold weather events, adding plum fruit and festive spice. Serve gently warmed in a mug, or chilled over ice in warmer months.
