An unsweetened German bottled blend under the Warlich name from Heinrich von Have, light and honest with Jamaican leaning ester notes, banana, citrus, spice, vanilla and a little smoke at an easy 40%.
Description
Heinrich von Have Warlich Rum is a blended rum bottled in Germany under the Warlich name by the long established Hamburg merchant Heinrich von Have. Bottled unsweetened at 40%, it is an everyday, no fuss rum that leans on a light Jamaican ester character, the kind of honest, uncomplicated blend meant for relaxed drinking rather than serious study.
The nose carries oak, light esters, banana and a whisky like note, while the palate adds spice, dried apricot and a touch of smoke alongside the oak. The finish brings cumin, cocoa and a final ester lift. The strength is modest and the profile gentle, with the no added sugar approach keeping it clean and true to the distillate rather than smoothed over. It works as a casual daily sipper or an easy gift, fruity and lightly funky without ever becoming demanding, a soft format introduction to the ester driven side of rum.
