Heimat Distillers sourced this Diamond distillate from Guyana and matured it themselves under their Ramero Rum label, a 3 Year Old finished in whisky casks and bottled at 46%. Young and lightly aged, it makes a casual stepping stone into Demerara rather than a deep, contemplative pour, the whisky cask influence clearly shaping its character.

The nose is roasty and chocolatey with honey and coconut, and the palate brings sweet dark chocolate, roasted notes and light smoke over young wood, with a little Bourbon-like sweetness behind. The finish runs thin with chocolate and mocha. Diamond's Savalle-style spirit is the lighter, cleaner end of Guyana, and at this age it reads soft and easygoing rather than deep. It drinks well slowly but is light enough that it shines just as happily in cola or a long drink. An honest, approachable young Guyanese with a clear whisky cask stamp, best taken for what it is.
