Hardkorn Wassermelonen Likör by Sophia Thomalla

A watermelon liqueur from the Hardkorn brand, made in Germany, where watermelon is layered over a grain spirit base. At 20% it lands in the middle of the fruit liqueur range, strong enough to carry through a mixed build while keeping the fruit forward. The grain base gives a clean platform and lets the melon character set the tone, which is the point of a flavour led liqueur like this one.

The fruit profile is watermelon and melon, supported by vanilla, honey, cream, almond and a light citrus peel sweetness typical of the range. In a drink it adds melon fruit, a soft sweetness and a summery lift, so it works in a melon spritz with sparkling wine, a chilled party shot or a long drink with soda or tonic where its fruit balances the dilution. It also brings melon colour and aroma to a fruit forward punch. Serve very cold or over ice, where the melon reads cleanest and the texture stays crisp.
