Description
Hanyu Sanmi Ittai Trinitas is a bottling by German independent Jack Tar, taking its name from the Latin and Japanese for trinity. The liquid comes from Hanyu, the Saitama Prefecture distillery operated by Toa Shuzo from the early 1980s until it closed in 2000, with the remaining casks later rescued by Ichiro Akuto and bottled over the years by the family and by independent bottlers worldwide.
This NAS release, bottled in 2022, is a single cask expression drawn from an Oloroso sherry cask, delivering the rich, dried-fruit and warming spice profile that Hanyu malt develops in heavy sherry wood. Dark fig, sultana and a trace of leather are typical of what this combination yields. Bottled at cask strength, it was released for the German market and represents a rare opportunity to encounter Hanyu stock in a sherry-forward presentation.
