Description
The Sanmi-Ittai Trinitas series is a blended malt range drawing on stock from the closed Hanyu distillery in Saitama Prefecture. Cask 55008, an Oloroso sherry single cask, was bottled in 2022 at 57% cask strength for an event release, the same year and cask type as Trinitas cask 55009, though each barrel carries its own individual profile.
Oloroso maturation gives the spirit its characteristic dark dried cherry, raisin, fig and warm baking spice character, and at 57% the sherry influence is full and direct without the oak drying out the fruit. The single cask designation means the expression is as specific as an individual sherry butt allows, and the event-only allocation places this among the more restricted releases in the Trinitas catalogue. The 2022 bottling date is also a reminder of how late into the Hanyu legacy programme new releases were still emerging.
