Hakushu Bourbon Barrel is a no age statement, cask strength single malt from Suntory's forest distillery in Yamanashi Prefecture, released globally in 2010 at 48%. The expression is defined by its maturation vessel: first-fill Bourbon Barrel casks that accentuate the fresh, vanilla-forward side of the Hakushu spirit.
The Bourbon Barrel influence brings coconut, sweet cereal and vanilla to the foreground, framing the distillery's typical green apple and herbal freshness. Without dilution, the 48% bottling delivers a fuller texture than the core range, with the light mineral and bonfire smoke notes typical of Hakushu threading through to a clean, wood-spiced finish.
