Description
Hakushu 13 Years Old 2000 is a single cask single malt from Suntory's Hakushu distillery, set among the forests and mountain streams of Yamanashi Prefecture. Distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2014 at 63.1% by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society under their SMWS 120.8 reference, this bottling was selected for the Netherlands market and represents the society's independent take on the distillery's output.
Matured for thirteen years in a 2nd fill Ex-Bourbon hogshead, the lighter wood contact preserves Hakushu's delicate, fragrant style: fresh fruit and floral lift at the fore, with a clean, grassy underpinning and only a subtle suggestion of vanilla from the used oak. The uncut cask strength delivery opens up the distillery's natural freshness with just a little water.
