Description
Hacienda Lopez de Haro Rosado is a D.O.Ca. Rioja rosé from Bodega Classica, based in the Sonsierra at the heart of Rioja Alta. It blends Tempranillo and Garnacha from very old vineyards, between 40 and 90 years of age, planted on well-drained clay-limestone soils. The age of the vines means naturally low yields and concentrated fruit, while the calcareous soils and the cooler Rioja Alta climate keep acidity firm and the aromatics fresh. The grapes are pressed gently and fermented cool in stainless steel to produce a pale, fruit-driven style with no oak, so the wine stays bright and direct. It pours a pale salmon pink with coppery highlights. The nose shows red berry, cherry and white peach with a floral and citrus lift. The palate is fresh and fruit-led, the strawberry and stone fruit carried by crisp acidity to a clean, lightly saline finish. The old-vine fruit gives it more depth than its pale colour suggests, while the Rioja Alta climate keeps it lively. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
