A cask strength Colombian ron from a 2012 vintage at 50.3%, dried fruit, allspice and coffee over a woody, barrel-led frame, thirteen years in ex-bourbon, a drier and more structured take on the Colombian style.
Description
Hacienda Coloma's Beautiful Mistake is a Colombian ron drawn from a 2012 vintage and bottled at cask strength after roughly thirteen years. Colombian ron often leans toward soft, coffee-and-cocoa solera blends, but this single-vintage, full-proof release sits at the more structured, oak-driven end of that spectrum.
Matured in ex-bourbon and presented at 50.3%, it is dried-fruit and allspice led with coffee and oak on the nose, then carries dried fruit, allspice, wood and a clear barrel note across the palate. The finish stays woody and spiced with more dried fruit. The cask strength and long oak contact give it grip and a drier, spicier feel than many soft Colombian rons, making it a robust sipper for drinkers who want barrel intensity and dried fruit depth over easy sweetness.
