An unaged Worthy Park white bottled by Habitation Velier at 57%, a high-ester Forsyths pot-still funk bomb of overripe banana, pineapple and olive brine over solventy, fermenty notes, built first for powerful Tiki cocktails.
Description
Habitation Velier WP 502 is an unaged white Worthy Park, distilled on the estate's Forsyths pot still in 2015 and bottled under Velier's Pure Single Rum line, which only carries single-distillery, full-proof, additive-free pot-still rum. The 502 marque sits at the higher-ester end of Worthy Park's range, though the house gets its esters from fermentation alone rather than dunder and muck, so even at full intensity it stays a notch below Hampden's solvent ceiling.
With no time in oak, this is raw distillate at 57%: overripe banana, pineapple, olive and a fermenty, solventy funk on the nose, then tropical fruit, banana and anise on a palate that runs dry and herbal into a menthol, fennel-tinged finish. Unsweetened and undiluted by wood, it is built first as a high-impact mixer for Tiki and punches, though experienced palates take it neat for the unvarnished look at Jamaican fermentation character.
