Habitation Velier Port Mourant White 2015

From Habitation Velier, the Pure Single Rum line that bottles pot-still spirit at full proof from a single distillery. This is Port Mourant in white, unaged spirit from 2015 that shows the double wooden pot still with nothing between it and the glass.

Bottled at an overproof 59%, it is earthy, smoky and herbal, with varnish, green apple, florals and green fruit, turning vegetal, peppery and solvent edged on the palate. The finish is dry, smoky and intense. This is the raw PM distillate in its most demanding form, fascinating to study neat for its clean still character, but equally at home powering a bold cocktail where its weight and funk carry straight through. One for the experienced, curious about Demerara before the barrel.
