An unaged Foursquare white at a fierce 62%, this long fermentation pot still rum trades the usual Bajan polish for raw sugarcane, glue, olive and lime, vegetal and saline, an experimental sipper rather than a casual mixer.
Description
Habitation Velier's Foursquare LFT White 2021 is an experimental bottling that strips Barbados rum back to bare distillate. Part of Velier's Pure Single Rum line, it captures an unaged, long fermentation pot still spirit from Richard Seale's distillery, far removed from the smooth aged blends Foursquare is known for and made without additives in the Habitation house style.
Distilled from molasses with an extended ferment to build esters, then bottled clear at a forceful 62%, it leans vegetal and floral with raw sugarcane, lime and citrus alongside glue, olive and a medicinal, briny edge. The effect sits closer to a white Jamaican rum or Rivers Antoine than to anything classically Bajan. It is best approached neat and slowly or in a focused, high proof cocktail, and rewards curiosity more than it offers comfort.
