Description
Grand Kadoo Club is a young Caribbean blend, three years in the cask, presented as an easygoing everyday rum rather than a serious aged statement. Brief tropical maturation in ex-bourbon oak gives it a little colour and a soft, sweet outline, and the Club name signals where this belongs, in a tall glass with mixers rather than under close scrutiny.
The nose offers fudge and banana, a friendly, dessert-like opening, but the palate is where its youth shows, mild and a touch bitter with milk chocolate, and a finish that runs thin. Bottled at 40% from ex-bourbon casks, it is a light, gentle rum that does its job in a cocktail without making a strong case as a neat pour, an inexpensive, uncomplicated mixer best judged by what it brings to a drink.
