Description
Gran Patrón Tequila Piedra Extra Añejo is a long aged 100% Blue Weber tequila from Patrón, made at Hacienda Patrón, NOM 1492, from highland Jalisco agave crushed in the traditional tahona process, where a volcanic stone wheel mills the cooked agave for a fuller, more textured spirit. Patrón runs a tahona and roller mill blend at scale, and Piedra, meaning stone, leans on the tahona side of that work.
It ages three years in a combination of new American and French oak, qualifying as extra añejo, the class requiring at least three years in cask. The result shows a deep mahogany colour and a sweet, subtle profile of fruit, fresh mushroom, light citrus and toasted French oak, with the agave receding behind the wood as long aging tends to bring. Bottled at 40% and presented in a crystal decanter.
