Description
Gran Feudo Rosado comes from D.O. Navarra, made by Bodegas Gran Feudo, part of the long established Chivite family project, with its cellar in Cintruénigo at the southern end of the appellation in the Ribera de Navarra. It is a single-varietal Garnacha, the grape that built Navarra's reputation for rosado and the source of this wine's well known fruitiness. The warm southern climate ripens Garnacha fully, giving generous red fruit, while the diurnal swing helps retain acidity. The wine is made by the saignée method, where juice is bled off after a short maceration on the skins, drawing colour and flavour from the fruit before fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel. This gives a deeper, fruitier rosé than the pale direct press Provençal style, without any oak. The wine shows a vivid pink. The nose is full of ripe strawberry and red cherry with red currant and a hint of white peach. The palate is dry but generously fruity, with fresh acidity keeping it light on its feet through a clean finish. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees.
