Description
Gran Feudo is a long established Navarra house, and its Reserva blends Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from selected vineyards averaging around 30 years of age. The vines grow mainly on clay based soils, which hold water and lend the wine body and a savoury depth. In this part of Navarra the growing season runs long, with grapes reaching full ripeness slightly later, which builds flavour while keeping the wine balanced. Vinification follows traditional methods supported by modern cellar control. The wine then spends eighteen months in French and American oak, a maturation that softens the tannins through gentle oxygen exchange and adds vanilla, sweet spice and a light smoky note. It is deep ruby with a garnet rim. The nose offers ripe black fruit, plum and red berries lifted by oak spice, tobacco and a smoky nuance. The palate is medium to full bodied, the tannins rounded by age, with a balanced savoury finish. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees. It is a versatile red for roast lamb, beef and hard cheese.
