From the historic Gran Feudo estate in Cintruénigo, this Navarra crianza blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Merlot and Tempranillo. Twelve months in French and American oak give cherry and red berry fruit, sweet spice and a rounded, savoury finish. Vegan.
Description
Gran Feudo traces its roots back over 150 years to La Cascajera, the founding winery at Cintruénigo in the south of D.O. Navarra. Hoya de Los Lobos Crianza is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Tinta, Merlot and Tempranillo, drawing on the varied soils and warm continental climate of the appellation. Navarra sits at the meeting point of Atlantic, Mediterranean and continental influences, with cool nights that preserve acidity and aromatic freshness in the fruit. Each variety brings something to the blend: Cabernet adds structure and cassis, Garnacha ripe red fruit and warmth, Merlot softness, and Tempranillo the savoury backbone. The wine spends twelve months in French and American oak barrels, where slow oxygen exchange through the staves softens the tannins and adds vanilla, sweet spice and a light toast. Malolactic fermentation rounds the acidity and lends a supple texture. It pours a vibrant cherry red of medium to high intensity, with a nose of ripe cherry, red berries and oak spice. The palate is medium bodied and balanced, with fine tannins and a clean finish. The wine is made to a vegan specification. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees. It pairs well with roast meats, grilled pork and hard cheeses.
