Description
Gran Feudo Hoya de los Lobos Chardonnay comes from D.O. Navarra, made by Bodegas Gran Feudo under the Chivite family, whose roots in the region reach back to 1872 at Cintruénigo. Navarra has an unusual climate, sitting where Atlantic, continental and Mediterranean influences converge, drawing on the Bay of Biscay to the north and warmer air from the south. That meeting point gives ripe fruit with retained freshness, and the varied soils across the appellation lend the wine body and balance. This Chardonnay is made in a fresh, fruit forward style, with the emphasis on clean primary aromatics rather than heavy oak, so the tropical and citrus character stays lifted. The wine is bright and radiant in the glass. The nose gets straight to the point, blending the tropical softness of ripe pear, melon and stonefruit with clear citrus zest and a floral note. The palate is medium bodied, soft and rounded, its ripe fruit balanced by fresh acidity through a clean, approachable finish. This is a wine to drink young and cool. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees. It suits roast poultry, pork and richer fish.
