Gran Feudo makes this Navarra crianza from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on clay soils, with vines averaging around 30 years. Twelve months in American oak give a classic, balanced red of ripe black fruit, gentle spice and fine wood.
Description
Gran Feudo Crianza is a red from D.O. Navarra, blending Tempranillo, Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes ripen late through a long growing season, and the vineyards, on clay soils, carry an average vine age of around 30 years, which lends depth and balance to the fruit. Navarra sits between the cooler Atlantic influence of the north and the warmer Mediterranean to the south, a meeting of climates that lets this blend ripen its different grapes fully while holding fresh acidity. Tempranillo gives the structure and red fruit, Garnacha adds warmth and body, and Cabernet Sauvignon brings firmness and a herbal note. The wine is vinified by the region's traditional methods and aged twelve months in American oak barrels as a crianza. American oak rounds the tannin through slow oxygen exchange and lends a sweeter vanilla and coconut spice, framing the fruit without covering it. It is medium to full bodied, with ripe plum and black cherry, gentle spice, fine wood and a savoury, herbal edge, finishing broad and balanced. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees. It suits roast lamb, grilled beef and pork.
