Description
Gran Feudo is a long established Navarra label, and this is its young fresh Chardonnay, made without oak to keep the emphasis on primary fruit. Navarra sits in northern Spain in the foothills of the Pyrenees, a region where cool mountain air moderates the summer warmth. That altitude and the cold nights slow ripening and hold on to acidity, giving a Chardonnay that is bright and crisp rather than broad. Made in a young unoaked style with no barrel ageing, the wine keeps its clean fruit and vitality, fermented cool to protect the aromatics. The colour is pale straw with green tints. The nose is fresh and direct, with green apple, pear, lemon and a light floral note. The palate is dry, light to medium bodied and lively, the fruit carried by fresh acidity into a clean finish. At 13 percent it has enough body to work at the table while staying easy to drink. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
